How to configure Cloudmade basemaps

Starting with v1.6 Leaflet Maps Marker supports basemaps from Cloudmade with custom styles. In order to use these maps, you have to get an API key and enable the listing of the configured basemaps in the controlbox. The use of their maps is free for non-commerical users – according to Cloudmade you need to contact support@cloudmade.com or sales@cloudmade.com if you plan to use their maps in a commercial context.

  1. get a (free) developer account at www.cloudmade.com (register on frontpage).
  2. Sign in and click on your account name (http://cloudmade.com/user/show):
  3. Click on the green button “Get API key”
  4. Fill out the popup form and save by clicking the button “register”
  5. copy the API key you get on the next page
  6. switch to your WordPress backend / Leaflet Maps Marker / Settings / tab Basemaps:
  7. scroll down to Cloudmade settings and enter this API-key in the form
  8. choose a styleID you want to use or create your own style from http://maps.cloudmade.com/editor. Please copy the styleID from the bottom right corner of the style preview images:
  9. Enter this styleID into the corresponding form field in Leaflet Maps Marker / Settings.

  10. As Cloudmade basemaps won´t work without additional configuration, they are not enabled by default on new plugin installations. So you now have to select the configured basemap to show up in the layer controlbox so it can be chosen when creating maps. So on Leaflet Maps Marker / Settings / tab basemap scroll up to the section “Available basemaps in control box” and check the basemap you just configured:
  11. Optionally you can change the name of this basemap for the layer control box in the section “Names for default basemaps”:
  12. To finish configuration, scroll to bottom of this page and click the button “save changes”:
  13. Now when creating new marker or layer maps, the new basemap is available in the layer controlbox:
