“File type not permitted for security reasons” error when trying to upload a gpx file

This issue has been fixed with Maps Marker Pro v4.3 – please update to the latest version for this fix to apply.

With WordPress 5.0.1 changes in MIME type validations were introduced, which also resulted in GPX uploads failing in Maps Marker Pro v4.0.10 or lower:

Please add the following code to wp-config.php as workaround, which will re-enable the upload of .gpx files:

define('ALLOW_UNFILTERED_UPLOADS', true);

If this does not help on your site, please have a look at other options available from this external tutorial.

The general mime type issue is planned to be solved with WordPress 5.1 (see related tickets #45707 and #40175 for details).

    Still not possible in 5.1.1? I was trying to workaround uploading the gpx as xml file. This works for upload, but data will then not show up in mapsmarker. Any idea?

      Hi Beat,
      v4.3 will include a fix for this – sorry that it took that long, we actually hoped for a quick solution from WordPress, but they postponed their fix to 5.3 and now we found a better fix for this which can be implemented in our plugin.
      best,
      Robert
