Pro-Version Releases
Attention: this is not the changelog for the latest stable version 4.29.1 (see related release notes)

After 1 month of development we are happy to announce the release of Maps Marker Pro v4.12. The highlights of this release are support for search radius for markers list and an option to enable lazy loading for maps. Additionally we also added some enhancements based on your feedback and fixed some minor bugs. For more details, please see below.

An updated to the latest version is – as always – highly recommended.

add search radius to markers list

If you activated the locate button for your maps (via tab “Controls”) you could already sort the marker list by distance from the current position of the user viewing the map. With v4.12 when distance is selected as sort order, you can now set a search radius to only show markers within a certain range from the current position of the user viewing the map:

add lazy loading option for maps

We added a new setting “Lazy loading” which you can find at Settings / Misc / WordPress integration:

Once you activate this option, maps will only be loaded after they become visible in the viewport. This may help in getting higher score for performance tests like Google Pagespeed. Anyway we decided not to enable this option by default, as from our point of view it is better to load all map related ressources in background, even if the map is not visible in viewport yet.

add deferred page loading compatibility

We also improved the deferred page loading compatibility with Maps Marker Pro v4.12. This may prevent broken maps on specific sites where e.g. the loading of scripts is manipulated by third-party plugins.

add option to show/hide GPX start/end icons individually

The GPX feature has also been improved with v4.12: now it is possible to show and hide GPX start and end icons individually:

add Y-axis offset option for elevation chart

For advanced GPX users we added a new option to set a Y-axis offset for the elevation chart, in order to correct GPX files with a wrong altitude (turn on advanced editor to see this new option):

store on mapsmarker.com now also accepts Apple Pay

We not only migrated our website mapsmarker.com to PHP 7.4 for higher performance, but also added support for Apple Pay for our online store.

So you can now also use Apple Pay for purchasing a Maps Marker Pro license or renewal (in addition to Visa, American Express, Mastercard, PayPal, DinersClub, sofort Überweisung or even bitcoins).

If you experience any issues using Apple Pay on checkout, please get in contact and we will be glad to help!

Other optimizations and improvements

  • add support for relative GPX URLs
  • use natural sorting in list of markers
  • preserve line breaks in textareas on backend
  • only show TinyMCE shortcode button in admin area
  • add additional action hooks

bugfixes

  • fix WhatsApp sharing link not showing up
  • fix automatic centering when adding GPX track on backend
  • fix erroneous escaping for custom JS and Google styles textareas

translation updates

Thanks to 210+ translators this release also includes some update translations, see full changelog for details.
