Pro-Version Releases
Attention: this is not the changelog for the latest stable version 4.28 (see related release notes)

After 2 months of intense development we are happy to announce v4.9 which not only includes GeoJSON shape import as well as CSV marker import and export but also a significantly improved marker loading performance amongst lots of other optimisations and fixes.

An updated to the latest version is – as always – highly recommended.

Now let´s get to the highlights of this release:

add GeoJSON shape import

With this release it is now also possible to add predefined custom GeoJSON shapes to your maps:

This allows you to add e.g. country shapes available from sites like https://geojson-maps.ash.ms without having to draw those shapes manually:

add CSV import and export for markers

If you want to bulk update markers based on a file in Excel or CSV, there is now no more need to convert this file to GeoJSON first: with v4.9 we added a native CSV import and export feature:

Additionally we also added an import option to assign markers during import, which also increases the usability of the importer tool.

add map assignment option for marker import

On the Tools page you will also find a new tool, which allows you to assign all unassigned markers to a specific map – no more need to select all unassigned markers manually on the list of markers page and using the bulk update feature there:

add clear button to list of markers search field

In the search field in the list of markers you will find now a small x which allows you to clear the markers search field and reset the list of markers to the initial values:

add API key option for HERE Maps

HERE maps has changed its recommended authentication method for tiles from AppID+AppCode to API key. For new HERE users, only API keys will work, legacy HERE users might still be able to use AppID+AppCode – we recommend to switch to API key, an updated tutorial can be found at https://www.mapsmarker.com/here-maps/

significantly improved marker loading performance

As with every release, we try to find ways to further optimize the performance of Maps Marker Pro. Due to internal refactoring we found several ways to significantly increase the loading performance for markers and decrease the RAM usage – especially for maps with huge amounts of markers.

added compatibility and significantly improved performance for marker import

When rewriting the importer for CSV compatibility, we also increased the importer performance as will, making it significantly faster to import large amounts of markers.

improve edit shape interface

The edit shape interface has also been improved with v4.9, now being displayed in the sidebar instead of in a modal window, allowing you to better live preview the changes:

Other changes and bugfixes

  • update XHR syntax for better compatibility
  • limit maximum edge buffer tiles to 4
  • performance issues with certain chrome versions
  • use correct namespace when parsing GPX extensions
  • fix marker count for maps using filters with overlapping markers
  • fix false negative during API endpoint compatibility check
  • fix address getting encoded twice when using Google geocoding
  • fix Google geocoding not returning coordinates
  • fix race condition when centering marker on map
  • fix erroneous unsaved changes warning on edit map page
